CRACKING AIM's FLAGSHIP EVENT

My objective was to transform Cypher from a large technology conference into a distinctive, immersive world that could communicate the scale and momentum of India’s AI ecosystem.

The identity needed to work for an unusually broad audience, ranging from developers and data scientists to founders, enterprise leaders, policymakers, sponsors and students. It also had to accommodate several parallel experiences, including conference sessions, workshops, product demonstrations, exhibition spaces, networking areas and award programmes.

The creative challenge was to avoid the familiar visual vocabulary of AI events: glowing brains, generic circuitry, floating data particles and anonymous blue gradients.

Instead, I wanted Cypher 2025 to feel like a national technology mission. The visual world needed to communicate exploration, ambition and forward movement while remaining practical enough to support hundreds of assets across digital campaigns, print, spatial branding, stage graphics and attendee communication.

Build the system, then let it run.

The astronaut became the central character of the Cypher universe. Rather than using it as a one-off decorative mascot, I treated the astronaut as a narrative device: an explorer entering unknown territories, encountering new technologies and carrying the ambition of India’s AI community forward.

This allowed the identity to move beyond conventional event advertising.

The visual system combined:

  • Cinematic space environments
  • Astronaut-led compositions
  • Futuristic cities and unexplored landscapes
  • Bold, condensed display typography
  • Industrial interface frames and modular information panels
  • Metallic surfaces and high-contrast lighting
  • Red, black, white and electric accent tones
  • Mission patches, coordinates, signals and navigation-inspired details

I balanced cinematic imagery with a strong graphic framework. The astronaut created emotion and memorability, while the typography, grids and interface elements maintained consistency across highly functional communication.

Making a mark in the AI Ecosystem of India

The final identity transformed Cypher 2025 into a cohesive, mission-driven event world.

Across digital communication, venue branding, stage environments and attendee touchpoints, the astronaut created a recognisable visual thread. The event no longer appeared as a collection of disconnected banners, screens and signs. It felt like one continuous journey.

The system successfully accommodated the scale of a summit promoted around 5,000+ daily attendees, 150+ speakers and 100+ exhibitors, while supporting the different needs of conference audiences, sponsors, speakers, volunteers and exhibitors.

More importantly, the visual identity gave “Make AI in India” a tangible atmosphere. It framed India’s AI movement not as something waiting to arrive from elsewhere, but as a mission already being built by the people inside the event. Contemporary coverage of Cypher described the theme as a broader movement around domestic talent, technology, infrastructure and leadership.
